I haven't done an #FTTF post in quite a while. It's been ever since last May!
But it's for a great cause. It's all in the name of privacy, encryption, and security. And best of all, a couple of my favorite people founded the company. I hope to be trying out the browser soon on my new #blackberry #KEYone. That's right. A new blackberry WITH A FULL KEYBOARD is coming out next month. And it also gives me a chance to use an app from CakeCodes (full disclosure: I am an investor) that is only available on Android.
These t-shirts are high quality 100% cotton. The medium fits me very well. You can always tell a t-shirt is nice by checking the tag. These are "District Made" with some very nice satin nylon tags. I haven't heard of District Made, but the satin tags is what really gives it away.
To the Tenta team: well done on the selection of it!
I was at the 9Mile Labs Cohort V graduation day for their latest demo day. And in front of me was a promotion desk full of schwag from HIRED. One of the items was this t-shirt. It fits great. The color is good. The logo of their company couldn't be any more simple and straight forward.
The style of the shirt is good, but a little bit too neutral in color, so I thought that this $CMCSA booth at the mall provided some nice bright red and white to spice up the photo.
Did you know that $CMCSA has a market cap of $150B?
I never realized how much of a massive company it is.
And the CEO is the son of the founder of the company.
In the empire building ambition that a man can sometimes have, only a handful of businessmen are able to actually achieve it in their lifetime. And to have the legacy passed down to his son, who one day becomes the Chairman of the Board (control), President (possession), and CEO (possession), while all the while having a significant number of shares and voting power (ownership); is an astonishing act of business acumen.
In the modern business world of major companies, when you don't have harmony among the three "houses" of checks and balances, then the company will be in lots and lots of unnecessary strife.
The three houses are the shareholders (ownership), the executives and C-suite (possession), and the Board of Directors (control).
Read 'Zero to One'. It's fantastic.
p.s. that hat I'm wearing is perfection.
Someone fell asleep at the wheel on this one.
Yes, I agree that getting from point A to point B is fastest done by going in a straight line. But it sort of looks like a chart. And in almost every chart I have ever seen, you always want to go from the lower left to the upper right. Time is usually measured on the horizontal X axis. And considering that Paypal is about money, there is a conscious and subliminal message of going down. Not good. I think even Gartner magic quadrants have the best companies with all the important qualities of vision, execution, and leadership in the upper right quadrant.
Yes, they picked a good quality t-shirt. It's the nice Next Level ones. The color of the shirt is nice too. But the logo is so heavy, that it's not comfortable to wear. Whoever decided to use that type of printing failed to take into account the basic need for comfort. I really hope they didn't pay extra for the type of printing they used. And I like the sleeve flair too. I know they paid extra for that one.
So no, I don't wear this shirt out in public. I have been known to wear it under other more awesome t-shirts. It's a damn shame because I personally love PayPal and the iconic status it has in the early days of the internet. I am pretty sure that if I wear and wash it enough, the logo will soften up and the shirt will be much more comfortable, but I don't want to waste my time doing that when I have so many other great shirts that are ready to go from the first wear.
This one is a very recent score.
I was very proud to get it because it was the last one he had at the event.
Even though what I really, really wanted was the cooler embossed with the Drizly logo, I was very happy to get this one.
In case you haven't heard of them, they are in the booze delivery business.
Booze. And delivery.
It sounds so simple and straight forward. But if it was, we would already have ubiquitous booze delivery in 2016.
And we don't.
Probably about 99% of the population consumes it.
And 90% of the population likes convenience.
It's the industry of #lazy that is worth about a TRILLION bucks.
Ironically, as it happens in the world, later in the day I might have had a few drinks and accidentally flipped an entire cup ramen over and splattered the noodles and ramen juice all over the place. It might have happened.
Thanks @drizly for the free tech t-shirt!
$AMZN is CRUSHING IT. More specifically, #AWS is absolutely crushing it.
How the heck did an online bookseller turn an obscure B2B cloud services platform into a $10B business?
It's almost like a work of fiction, but it's the cray cray, cold, harsh truth.
With Azure over in Redmond, Western Washington, aka Seattle, truly is the Cloud Capital of the world.
I just sit here and shake my head at how massive this side business became and $MSFT is trying to keep up.
Huge kudos to Andy Jassy and the AWS team.
I was out there last week with my 'Powered by AWS' t-shirt.
I don't remember how I got it, but with $AMZN being such a beast of an employer out here, it was probably some sort of marketing event. It fits great.
As you can see, the biospheres are coming along nicely. One of them got painted very recently. I like to think that Bezos is practicing what it would be like to build these biospheres on other planets. I keep forgetting that these crazy little domes are being built right now. They will be a permanent part of the Seattle skyline, so I don't want to take the opportunity to witness their construction for granted.
All I can say is I wish I was a long time shareholder of $AMZN.
This t-shirt is one of my favorites. It fits great. It's super simple in that it only has the logo on the front. If you saw me and didn't know what it was, then all you would have to do is look on the upper back (lower left picture) and you would know exactly where the t-shirt came from. I have a couple of tech t-shirts that only have a logo and unless you've already been around for a decade, and you have massive distribution, NO ONE is going to know who you are.
The label is really good too. It's from American Apparel and although the company is discussed to be crumbling into pieces, with all kinds of scandal, they have a great vision for what they want to be in the world. It's very noble.
And it's one of those satin labels. It doesn't crumple up in the wash. They usually put those on the nicer t-shirts. Like the blends or combed cotton ones (this one).
"This T-shirt was sewn by 9 people in a sweatshop-free environment in Downtown L.A. where they are paid fair wages and have access to healthcare and benefits."
That's a 9Mile Labs Free Tech T-shirt for #FTTF. It was the first investor and accelerator that GiftStarter worked with.
And that's the world famous Space Needle. It's one block from my day job office.
And that's my favorite plaid button down long sleep shirt. A random Bonobos shirt I found at Nordstrom Rack. Dressy enough for work on a Friday and comfortable.
Sometimes I wear Free Tech T-shirts under my button down long sleeve work shirts during the week.
It's like having a super hero outfit on underneath my proper day time work uniform.
I'm one day ahead on this one. 6/25 is a Thursday.
Today is supposed to be #TBT
But I'm a rule breaker. Don't judge me because I can't follow the rules.
@arryinseattle met with @lob and she scored a couple of matching t-shirts for us. we were going out to eat and i took the opportunity to take the selfie in front of the legendary Tutta Bella in Columbia City. Some of the best pizza in Seattle.
#love for pizza
#relationship based on free tech t-shirts
The weather is starting to get nice in Seattle.
Depicted here: me in an @intercom free tech t-shirt, @arryinseattle, and Mochi (who is in a hurry to go home and doesn't care for my #FTTF segments).
Being a free tech t-shirt aficionado, I can tell you that this @intercom one is a great t-shirt and fits me very well!
Free tech t-shirt continues! #fttf
It was ironic that I happen to have my Windows t-shirt on that day when I unveiled my brand new Macbook Pro.
It is truly an amazing machine.
I really enjoy wearing it. I even wear it out socially... that's a full moon during a summer evening rooftop party. It looked surreal IRL. The photo doesn't even come close, but it's a good reminder.
